Gareth Bale supports the fight against Covid-19 at Esports event

Real Madrid and Welsh international footballer Gareth Bale attended the ‘Combat Corona’ online tournament where he contributed to raising £18,000 for charity.

Bale, a keen gamer and who also co-owns the esports organisation Elleven Esports, took part in the FIFA 20 tournament along with Paulo Dybala, Daniel James and England number 1 Jordan Pickford.

The event, organised by 38 entertainment was streamed live on popular esports channel Twitch. Speaking to the BBC, Bale said:

“It’s the least we can do to raise money and battle this virus,” Bale said.

“Obviously everyone is stuck at home and trying to stay safe so let’s try and raise as much money as we can.”
